How to Give to the CollegeCash Gifts or PledgesGifts of cash are available for immediate use by St. Mark’s College and are tax deductible. Multi-year pledges allow many donors to increase the size of their gifts, while payments are extended over several years. Cheques should be made out to St. Mark’s College. Gifts of SecuritiesGifts can be made with stocks, bonds and mutual funds and can offer extra tax benefits to the donor, as capital gains tax can be eliminated. Life InsuranceYou can purchase a life insurance policy with St. Mark’s College as the beneficiary or transfer benefits from an existing policy that you may no longer need. Deferred or Planned GiftsBequests are a very meaningful way to be part of both the past and the future of St. Mark’s College. By naming the College as a beneficiary in your will, it is possible to leave a significant legacy to the College. Your bequest may be for a set dollar amount, a percent or fraction of your estate, or part of the remainder of your estate after other bequests have been settled. While unrestricted bequests grant St. Mark’s College freedom to allocate your support where the need is greatest, some donors may wish to make a restricted bequest to enhance a specific program or cherished project, or establish a new fund such as an endowed scholarship to honor a favorite instructor or family member. Gifts from Retirement Plan AssetsAssets in tax-deferred retirement plans can be appealing charitable gift to make to St. Mark’s College.
